Sitsirya Sari-Sari: One Stop Pasalubong Shop for Travellers

Pasalubong will always be a part of Filipino’s rich tradition. A common term used to describe treats we give to our loved ones after a long tiring day at work or from our trips in and out of the country. This tradition became an inspiration that led to the establishment of Sitsirya Sari-Sari.

THE STORY BEHIND

Sitsirya Sari-Sari, which was originally Burp Food Entrerptises, is a Pasalubong Shop owned by the couple Ofrace and Era Ocampo. They were both graduates from University of the Philippines Diliman. After Ninoy’s assasination in 1983, both Ofrace and Era became unemployed and decided to start their own business to support their family’s need. They found an opportunity when Era’s father died, they borrowed Php10,000 from the “abuloy” and used this as their initial capital to start their home-based business selling pasalubongs.
They started by selling “kakanin” in a commercial space inside a small supermarket. The couple strived to become successful and expanded in different locations. Now they already have over 30 outlets all over the Philippines. Sitsirya became a distribution channel of local produce of various localities in the country.
